The cemetery on Lilienthalstrasse was opened in 1938 and was active through1940’s, serving as a resting place for the soldiers of Wehrmacht, fallen on the fronts of World War II.
It encompasses graves of known victims, mass graves of unknown soldiers as well as various statues erected to their memory.
In the beginning the cemetery was used strictly for military funerals, however as the war moved closer to home, it increasingly started to take cilvilian victims of war.
