Berlin Wall Memorial is a part of the original border between the East and West Berlin, preserved as a monument to City’s convoluted history.
It is located on the corner of Bernauer and Ackerstrasse, being a part of the larger commemorative complex, including the Mauerpark and the Chapel of Reconciliation among others)
It preserves the outher and inner parts of the Berlin Wall and the so called ‘strip of death (german: Todesstreifen) between the two parts, where the border patrols were ordered to kill anybody they encounter.
You cannot get onto the no man’s land between the walls, but you can peek thgough the holoes between the concrete plates, just as people did in the division years.
Interesting posts. Terrific photographs!
