The structure was badly damaged during the war and remained in poor condition untill the 1980’s, when the reconstruction started. Due to low funds, as well as ongoing vandalism, the fairytale springs remained largely unused untill 2005, whenthe city of Berlin commisioned a full restoration of the area to it’s original state.
