Borsigtor is located in the district of Tegel in north-western Berlin, near the airport and the Borsigturm Halle shopping mall.

It is an old gate to the Borgiswerke company, occupying the area at the turn of the XIX and XX Century.

Nowadays the area is occupied by various office buildings and the before mentioned shopping center, although the Borgis firm still exists and is located in close vicinity.
At the time when the Borsigtor was built, the company was the largest producer of the steam locomotives in the world.

The gate is constructed in a neoromanesque style with massive thick walls, small windows and rounded arches. It is meant to be pseudo-old, drawing heavily from the romanesque architecture of early medieval europe.
