The Sehitlik Mosque was built between 1999 and 2005 in Tempelhof, on the site of an old Turkish cemetery, grounded there already in 1866 as the final resting place for th Ottoman diplomats.

The mosque can house up to 1500 people.

Aside from the house of prayer, the building complex also performs a role of a local culture center, organizing activities for the muslim community, as well as for other Berliners. The mosque is built is a style that draws heavily from the 16^th and 17^th century Anatolian architecture, the peak of the Ottoman classical period.

The mosque is located in the middle of the cemetery, surronded by graves, creating a very unique experience.
